The food and beverage industry provide a wide range of products and services that can impact the health of consumers. Therefore it is important to ensure the food work area is fitted with the right type of industrial and commercial flooring to comply with food safety legislation and sanitation laws.
It is important to understand the use of the floor in each facility prior to installing any form of flooring.
1. Operational Challenges
Food processing area floors should withstand pedestrian traffic and mechanical traffic, such as forklifts or pallet trolleys
2. Seamless Floor Finish, No Cracks or Joints
It is imperative that any floor should be seamless to avoid the accumulation of bacteria.
3. Non – Porous Surface
The flooring must be 100% waterproof to withstand the daily washing that includes hot water and chemical cleaning agents.
4. Easy to Clean
Flooring in the food and beverage industry needs to have rounded floor edges that go up the sides of the wall coving to make it easier to clean and stops dirt and bacteria from collecting in the corners.
